Unemployment hit the new high. We see a solution

Read some news (here and here) about the current record level of unemployment in the UK since 1996. By April 2009, unemployment had risen to 2.3 million. Even though some experts estimate the recession has come to the end, the unemployment number seems to tell a different story. It is worrying. How can all the unemployed people get through this difficult time? Is it going to have a negative impact on the economy and our society?

It is not difficult to understand that all the companies need to cut their expenses to get through this tough time. However, do they still need talent and services? Yes, they do. They are just looking for cheaper alternatives. They still need workforce, but expect them to be much more flexible, cost-efficient and effective. Looking back to the unemployed professionals, if they can offer their skills in the manner required, at least for the time being, will the problem be relieved?

This tough situation reminds me of my jobless time after leaving business school. I was a "full-time job seeker" with no income. Living in an expensive city like London with no income is tough. It inspired me to create MinuteBox: an online platform for people to monetise skills and knowledge online in an easy and flexible way. You can offer people solutions or advice via online chat or e-mail. No hassles.

I cannot think of any better timing than this to show the value of my idea to the public. Imagine MinuteBox as a hub. The unemployed can generate some income to get through this difficult time by offering their skills online while waiting to land another fulltime position. Companies/individuals can get the live expert advice they need at MinuteBox in an instant, flexible and cost-effective way. It can be also a great way to approach talent and perhaps hire them full time when they are able to commit.

Our Beta is ready. We are polishing it up before we begin we start marketing activities to promote it. If you want to be part of the hub, you can join us now. We would love to get some feedback from you. With your input, we can make MinuteBox more valuable to the public. If we can really help some people, then all our effort would be worth it.
